The Washington Mystics had a strong start to the second half of the season on Tuesday night, defeating the Connecticut Sun. Starters Sonia Citron (22 points), Kiki Iriafen (20 points), and Shakira Austin (17 points) all scored at least 15 points. It marked the fourth time this season the trio has each reached that mark in the same game.

The Mystics controlled the game inside, out-rebounding Connecticut 41-28 and outscoring the Sun 44-32 in the paint. Washington's 12th game with at least 40 rebounds this season set a new franchise single-season record.

Citron led all scorers with 22 points while adding two blocks, recording her ninth 20-point game of the season. Iriafen posted her 13th double-double of the year with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Austin finished with 17 points and six rebounds. Austin also reached another milestone, 1,500 career points, while moving into seventh on the franchise's all-time rebounding list. Off the bench, Cotie McMahon provided an important spark with 11 points and two blocks, and Georgia Amoore paced the offense with a team-high five assists.
