The Washington Mystics made history on Tuesday night, defeating the Connecticut Sun to earn their 27th victory of the season, setting a new franchise record and surpassing the 26-win mark set by the 2019 WNBA Championship team. Washington also made WNBA history on the glass, bringing its season total to 1,615 rebounds, a new league single-season record.

Shakira Austin led the way with 25 points, a game-high-tying 13 rebounds, and a season-high four steals, recording her 20th double-double of the season. Austin also surpassed 700 points on the year, becoming the first player in Mystics history to reach that mark in a single season.

Austin and Kiki Iriafen also made history as the first pair of teammates in WNBA history to each record at least 20 double-doubles in the same season. Sonia Citron added 12 points, five rebounds, and two steals, while Cotie McMahon provided a spark off the bench with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting.

Lauren Betts made her presence felt defensively, matching her career high with four blocks. Betts now has 37 blocks this season, tying the Mystics rookie record while leading all WNBA rookies.
