In 2027, the Washington Mystics will celebrate our 30th Anniversary. We want to celebrate the people who made these 30 years what they are: the players, coaches, staff and, of course, the fans who have been here through it all. Now we’re looking for the photos, memorabilia and stories that help tell that history. Have something to share? Tell us about it!
This History Belongs To All Of Us
Over 30 years, Mystics history has lived in arenas, on the court and in our community. It has also lived in fans’ homes, photo albums, ticket stubs, closets and keepsake boxes.
We don’t have every piece of that history in our possession. That’s where you come in.
We’re asking fans to share photos of items they have, along with the stories behind them. Your submission may help us build exhibits for Mystics games and special events, create a digital archive, or even be featured in a future 30th Anniversary keepsake.
The big thing: we want to hear your Mystics story — not just learn about the object.
What We're Looking For
There’s no one right thing to submit.
We’re looking for items and memories connected to the Mystics, including:
- Tickets
- Programs and publications
- Jerseys and apparel
- Autographed Items
- Promotional items and giveaways
- Posters and signs
- Fan-made items
- Photographs
- Video
- Other Mystics memorabilia
It could be something from the first season, a favorite game, a player you followed for years, a tradition in the stands or a moment that still means something to you.
Big memory or small keepsake — we want to hear the story.
How It Works
- Share It - Complete the form and tell us about your item, photo or memory.
- Tell Us The Story - Help us understand when it came from, what was happening at the time and why it matters to you.
- We Review - Our team, along with a group of fans serving on our Heritage Committee, will review submissions and identify items and stories that may become part of our 30th Anniversary celebration.
- We'll Follow Up - If we’re interested in a physical item, we’ll contact you about next steps, including a formal loan process when applicable.
What Might Happen With Your Submission?
Selected items and stories may be used as part of our 30th Anniversary celebration, including:
- In-person exhibits - Displays at Mystics games, special events and gatherings.
- Digital experiences - Photos, stories and memorabilia featured in digital content on social media or websites and our historical archive.
- Video and storytelling - Stories and items may help bring Mystics history to life during video presentations and other content
- Note - Submitting something does not guarantee that it will be selected or displayed.
The Mystics story isn’t just about what happened on the court. It’s about the people who showed up. The memories they made. The traditions they started. The players they followed. The games they never forgot. Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or found the Mystics somewhere along the way, there’s a place for your story here.
Some submissions may also be considered for Hail to the Fans: The Spirit of DC Sports, an exhibit from DC Public Library. The submission form will ask whether you’re interested in having your item or story considered. Selecting “yes” does not mean your item will be selected or that you have agreed to a loan. DC Public Library will handle any selection and formal loan coordination separately.
