Game Recap: Mystics at Liberty








The Washington Mystics earned one of their biggest victories of the season on Friday, defeating the New York Liberty 86-83 and snapping the defending champions’ eight-game winning streak. The win marked Washington’s first victory over New York since September 2023 and capped the season series on a high note.
The Mystics got contributions from every corner of the floor, with all five starters scoring in double figures for the first time this season. Washington also showcased its trademark ball movement, recording 20 assists while committing a season-low 11 turnovers.
Kiki Iriafen led all scorers with 20 points, adding six rebounds, a steal, and a block. The All-Star candidate continued her standout campaign with her fourth 20-point game of the season and 10th of her career before turning 23 years old.
Sonia Citron filled the stat sheet with 16 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and a career-high five steals. Her all-around performance was one of the most complete of the season, helping spark Washington on both ends of the floor.
Shakira Austin added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Georgia Amoore recorded 10 points and a season-high eight assists. Michaela Onyenwere continued her strong stretch of play with 11 points, giving the Mystics five starters in double figures for the first time since 2022.
The victory showcased the balanced attack and connected play that has become a hallmark of this year's team. Against one of the league’s top opponents, Washington stayed composed, shared the ball, and delivered in key moments down the stretch.
