WASHINGTON MYSTICS UNVEIL THE DR. SHEILA C JOHNSON GAME CHANGER AWARD
Inaugural Recipient to be Recognized on Sept. 8
This season, the Washington Mystics unveiled their new Nike Rebel Edition Uniform inspired by the story of early civil rights pioneer and educator Nannie Helen Burroughs. Inspired by Burroughs, the team launched the Legacy campaign, a dedication and celebration of women who are making a difference and answering the call to own their legacy.
As part of the Legacy campaign, the Mystics have announced the new Game Changer Award, named after Mystics President and Monumental Sports & Entertainment Managing Partner, Sheila C. Johnson, which seeks to recognize a local woman who is a fearless leader and innovator. Nominations for the award open on Wed. May 10, Nannie Helen Burroughs Day, celebrated each year in Washington, D.C.
The following are the criteria for nominees: A senior leader in our community who has demonstrated a commitment to changing the game in their workplace, in the community, and with the next generation of female leaders. Senior leaders are executives (ex. Chief Executive Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, etc) and or Founders and Entrepreneurs in the greater Washington region which include Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware.

The award winner will be announced in August and celebrated at halftime during the Women Game Changers Night on Friday, September 8 against the Atlanta Dream.
