Mystics Win Matinee in Tulsa, Third Straight Victory
In a win highlighted by 3-point shooting and defense, the Mystics defeated the Tulsa Shock 76-69 on Tuesday afternoon at the BOK Center. After trailing by two at the halftime break, the Mystics held the high-scoring Shock to just 29 points in the second half. Washington now heads into the All-Star Break on a 3-0 streak and in third place in the Eastern Conference.
The Mystics were once again lead by center Stefanie Dolson, who posted 18 points, three boards and two blocks. The team shot 44.6% overall and continued to perform from beyond the arc, posting six made three-point baskets. Despite being outrebounded 48-24, Washington continued to prove its unselfish play can translate into a victory, again out-assisting their opponent (15-11).
Guard Ivory Latta made an impact off the bench, adding 14 points, three boards and three steals. Her fellow former Tarheels didn’t disappoint, as Tierra Ruffin-Pratt added 13 points on 50% shooting, while LaToya Sanders came off the bench and recorded a career-high six blocks in the win. Leading the Mystics in rebounding was forward Emma Meesseman, who also added 13 points.
The Shock were lead by Karima Christmas with 15 points and eight rebounds. After the All-Star break, the Mystics will face the Seattle Storm at home on July 29th at 11:30 AM.
