Game Recap: Mystics Close Out First-Half of Season in LA

The Washington Mystics saw their three-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday night in Los Angeles, falling 99-80 to the Sparks in the final game before the All-Star break.
Despite the loss, Shakira Austin continued her strong stretch of play, leading the Mystics with 16 points, eight rebounds, three blocks and three steals. She became just the seventh player in the league this season to post 3+ blocks and 3+ steals in a single game, and the first Mystic to do so since 2019.
Sug Sutton added 14 points off the bench, hitting both of her attempts from beyond the arc. The game marked her eighth double-digit scoring outing of the season, and eighth time with multiple threes made.
Rookie guard Sonia Citron posted a career-high six assists while stuffing the stat sheet with eight points, six rebounds, two steals, and a block. Her defensive consistency continues to shine, she now has eight games with multiple steals, the third-most among WNBA rookies.

Aaliyah Edwards also contributed off the bench, notching 13 points in one of her most efficient outings of the season. In total, the Mystics bench outscored the Sparks’ reserves 26-13.
Despite falling behind, Washington showed fluid ball movement, logging their seventh game of the season with 20+ assists.
The Mystics head into the All-Star break at 11-11, their best midseason mark since 2023. They'll return to action next week looking to reset and build on the momentum from their recent stretch of play.
