With the win over Phoenix last night, the Mystics have something to celebrate. The team has officially clinched a 2023 playoff spot!
The postseason is just around the corner and now more than ever, the Mystics needed a win beyond the game. In a season filled with injuries, the Mystics have battled through the adversity and guaranteed themselves a chance at another WNBA title.
Since their first season in 1997, this is the franchise’s 15th playoff appearance. With so many teams with close records, the Mystics’ official seeding will not be final until the end of the regular season. Regardless, the team will begin the postseason on the road with two games. With a win in either game, the Mystics would return to D.C. for a decisive Game 3.
If the Mystics land in the 6th seed, they will play two games at Mohegan Sun Arena to face off against the Connecticut Sun. A 7th seed placement would bring another matchup between the Mystics and the New York Liberty.
Whichever way the seedings fall, the Mystics have proven all season that they are not a team to count out. With two games left in the regular season, the Mystics are another step closer to post season play and ultimately, a WNBA Championship. Let’s cheer them on Friday night at ESA!
