Tianna Hawkins has been Showing Up and Showing Out for the Mystics
With an eventful season comes players who give you eventful performances on the court. Through all the unexpected injuries and players having to sit out, the Mystics need their role players to step up more than ever. And from the very first game of the season, Tianna has been one of the players to show up and show out on the floor.
This season, Tianna has been an engine and making key plays in ways that the team needs most. So far this season Tianna has eleven double-digit scoring games under her belt, with only eight more games left in the regular season. This almost triples her double-digit scoring games from last season. With this big of an impact on the floor, her minutes have increased from last year by almost double.
Tianna’s journey in the WNBA has been anything but ordinary and she has gone through it with grace. Before being drafted and during her senior year at Maryland, Tianna dominated the ACC Conference and made the All-ACC First Team. She scored 613 total points her senior year at Maryland, and the same year, she was drafted 6th overall by the Seattle Storm.
Tianna is a DMV native and a University of Maryland women’s basketball alumni, who has been with the Mystics since 2014-2020 and 2021-present. Her presence on the team is undeniable and fans love her spirit.
Since joining the Mystics in 2014, Tianna has increased her stats every year and been a force for every team she has been a part of. With all the unknowns on the Washington Mystics roster, Tianna has had the chance to step up in a major way on every side of the floor. Her current average assists and rebounds are more than any season in her career so far. It is no surprise why she has started 18 games so far this season.

During a road game against Connecticut, Tianna went 10-12 from the field, finishing with 24 points and 4 rebounds. Her ability to shift the game and bring the underrated intangibles to the court is something not a lot of players can do. Tianna has been putting on a show this season, and with eight more games in the regular season, there is definitely more to come.
