With the season on full go-mode, that means the WNBA All-Star game is right around the corner. Players have been proving their talents on the court and now it is time to see which players will earn their spot at this season All-Star game.

This season the WNBA All-Star game is in Las Vegas, and it is already shaping up to be a competitive push as to who gets a spot on the two teams. The league has been competitive and over the last few years, has bought in a slew of young talent that has only made the All-Star selection more difficult.

All around the league, players are putting up big numbers and positioning their teams in great positions to win. On the Mystics roster, there are several players giving us a show so far this season.

One of those players is in her tenth season in the league. 2x MVP Elena Delle Donne, returned to the game last season, after setting out prior with a back injury. As excited as fans were last season to have Elena back, she was easing back into the mix. But this season, Elena is back in full effect. So far this season, the 6x All-Star is averaging 18.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 41.9% from the three-point line. Out of the eleven games so far, Elena has scored double digits in every game this season, and three of those games, she has scored 20+ points in four of those games.

Another Mystics player that is improving on every level from last year, is sophomore, Shakira Austin She has already recorded five double doubles out of the team’s 11 games. So far this season, Shakira has averaged 12.0 points, and 8.1 rebounds. She has started every game this season for the Mystics and continues to be a presence for the team in the post defensively, with an average of 6.5 defensive rebounds. Shakira has been taking this second season by storm already and we are only eleven games into the season. If she is selected, this will be her first All-Star appearance in her career.

At the point guard position, Natasha Cloud has been pushing the pace and controlling the floor for the Mystics. Her presence on the court helps her teammates find open looks. So far this season, Natasha is averaging 5.9 assists per game, currently the fifth highest average in the league. The point guard has made her assists skills known and even became the league leader in assists during the 2022 season.

If you’re going to talk about All-Stars and the Mystics, you have to talk about Ariel Atkins. This shooting guard is a 2x All-Star and competed in last year’s All-Star three-point contest. Ariel has been with the Mystics her entire career and has started every game for the team this season. She has score double digits in four games this season.

And when it comes to guard play, Brittney Skyes has been holding it down, especially on the defensive end. In the last five game, Skyes has averaged 2.6 steals per game, with her season high of 5 steals during the June 16th game against Phoenix. Her performance has only made the Washington defensive that much stronger this season.
