SHAKIRA AUSTIN NAMED TO 2026 ALL-WNBA SECOND TEAM
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The WNBA announced today that Washington Mystics center Shakira Austin has been named to the 2026 All-WNBA Second Team.
Austin appeared in all 43 games for the Mystics during the 2026 WNBA season, leading the team in several key categories, including total points, rebounds, and blocks.
In her fifth WNBA season, Austin averaged career-highs of 17.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game, while shooting 48.3% from the field and 31.5% from three-point range. Austin was one of three players to average at least 17 points and 9 rebounds during the 2026 campaign and ranked fourth across the league in rebounds per game. Additionally, she recorded 20 double-doubles this season. Along with teammate Kiki Iriafen’s 23 double-doubles, they are the WNBA's first pair of teammates to record at least 20 double-doubles a piece in the same season.
Austin broke numerous franchise and WNBA records throughout her 2026 campaign, including:
- Franchise single-season scoring record (722 points).
- Franchise single-season rebounding record (408 rebounds).
- Second player in WNBA history to record a 700+ point/400+ rebound/100+ assist/50+ block season.
- Joined Emma Meesseman as the second Mystics player to total 1,800+ points, 1,000+ rebounds, 100+ steals, and 150+ blocks in their career.
- Seventh player in WNBA history and only player in franchise history to record a 25-game streak of recording 10+ points and 5+ rebounds.
Austin received her first-ever Associated Press Player of the Week honors (Aug. 3 and Aug. 11) and was named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week (Aug. 11).
Austin becomes the sixth player in franchise history to be named to the All-WNBA Second Team and seventh player in franchise history to be named to an All-WNBA Team. She is the first Mystics player since Tina Charles (2021) to earn this honor.
