Japanese Heritage Day
It has always been important for the Mystics to celebrate and educate about different cultures, and with the addition of Rui Machida to our team, we are exploring and learning about Japan with our friends from the Embassy of Japan. Come out and celebrate Japanese Heritage Day with the Washington Mystics on Sunday, July 17, 2022 @ 3 p.m. as we take on the Minnesota Lynx. Fans will have the opportunity to take photos with the actual Olympic Torch from the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games and hear music from Japanese Taiko Drums during halftime. Our rookie, Rui Machida’s culture will be celebrated and explored during this fun filled day and fans can grab Rui merch throughout the night game in our Mystics team store location on the concourse. Be one of the first to purchase your exclusive single ticket package, which will include a Japanese Heritage Night Mystics t-shirt for this game, here.
‘Stics & Kicks Bracket
The Mystics have been rocking fire kicks on and off the court all season long, and we want you to join in on the fun! If you are not following the Washington Mystics on Instagram, you should be because we are starting off this month with an interactive Sneaker Bracket presented by Sole Wash Sneaker Laundry, as we get ready for our ‘Stics and Kicks Sneakerhead game on July 30, 2022 @ 12 p.m. Vote for your favorite kicks in our bracket today.
All-Star Break
With tonight’s game against the Atlanta Dream, the Mystics will end the first half of the season and take a well-deserved break as WNBA All-Star Weekend begins July 9th-10th in Chicago. Representing Washington will be Ariel Atkins, as she was named to the All-Star team by her peers, league coaches, and fans. This will be Atkins’ second All-Star appearance and we can’t wait to watch her show out! Root for her during the All-Star game, on Sunday, July 10th @1 p.m. ET on ABC.
Assist DC
There is still time to make the ultimate assist! The Mystics Assist DC Program is partnering with and donating to College Track Ward 8 to create paths for students in Ward 8 to get into college. With the success of last season, we have brought the Mystics Assist DC Program back to help more students across Ward 8. For every assist made by a Mystics player this season, a monetary contribution will be donated to College Track Ward 8. Our goal for this season is to raise $20,000.
You don’t have to be a Mystics player to make a difference. Check on the team’s progress throughout the season with our assist meter on the Mystics website. Team up with your Washington Mystics to get in on the action and donate from home to help these students excel in their educational journey by visiting our Mystics Assist DC page.

District of Change T-Shirt
This season, the Mystics are at it again with how they make a difference in the community. The District of Change artist collection highlights local artists and allows them to elevate their work through the Mystics community. Last year, over 350 shirts were sold and more than $5,000 was raised between the two designs. This year, Keiona Clark was the artist selected to design the Pride t-shirt, Rebecca Crouch designed the Gender Equality t-shirt, and Rose Jaffe designed the DC Emancipation t-shirt. Clark’s Pride Design t-shirt is the only collection still available and will be until July 12, 2022. Mystics fans can make a difference and support Keiona Clark by purchasing the t-shirts from this link.
Mystics Mentor Program:
We continue to expose our fans to different Mentor groups under our Mystics Mentor Program this season. This inaugural program works to match-up Mystics fans with nine different local mentoring partners in need of mentors and role models. During games, throughout the season, these different Mentor groups will have displays in the concourse area to explain more about their mission and allow you to meet some of the professionals who work to make these groups successful. These mentor groups work with children in our community to set examples and give guidance by making connections. The Mystics are focused on bringing positive role models to children in our community and the Mystics Mentor Program is here to do just that.
If you think you have what it takes to be a mentor or know someone looking for a mentor, you can find out more information about our Mystics Mentor Program and the 9 local Mentoring partners by clicking here.
