The Washington Mystics came up just shy in a hard-fought matchup against the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday night, falling 75-69 at CareFirst Arena.

Rookie forward Kiki Iriafen continued her record-setting season, leading Washington with 18 points and 13 rebounds. The performance marked her 16th double-double of the year, the most ever in a single season by a Mystic.

Iriafen also grabbed her 112th offensive rebound, passing Krystal Thomas (2017) for the franchise single-season record. Her 16 games with at least 10 points and 10 rebounds rank fifth-most by a rookie in WNBA history.

Shakira Austin added 15 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks, notching her fourth double-double of the season. With 40 blocks on the year, she became just the fifth player in franchise history to reach that milestone.

Austin and Iriafen also made history together, becoming the first Mystics teammates with 15+ points and 10+ rebounds in the same game since May 2023.

Alysha Clark chipped in nine points, four assists, and two steals, while Sug Sutton directed the offense with eight assists, her second-highest total of the season.

Rookie guard Sonia Citron knocked down her 76th three-pointer of the year, tying Kristi Toliver (2017) for the fourth-most in a single season by a Mystic.

Washington outscored Phoenix 36-22 in the paint and tallied 21 assists, their third straight game with 20+ assists.

The Mystics will host the Indiana Fever up next at CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore, MD on September 7 with tip-off at 3 PM ET.
