Game Recap: Mystics vs Fever

The energy was there from the opening tip. In front of a loud, crowd at CareFirst Arena, the Washington Mystics battled the Indiana Fever possession for possession before falling just short, 78-76, in one of the most competitive games of the season.
With the crowd on its feet throughout the fourth quarter, the Mystics continued to answer every run. Washington had four players score in double figures and moved the ball with purpose all night, finishing with 21 assists in a game that showcased the growth and chemistry of the team's young core.
Michaela Onyenwere delivered one of her strongest performances, leading Washington with a season-high 17 points and three made three-pointers. Georgia Amoore provided a huge spark, scoring 12 points while knocking down all four of her attempts from beyond the arc. Sonia Citron continued her impressive streak of at least 10+ points/5+ assists with 12 points, five assists, and two blocks, while Shakira Austin added 10 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and her trademark presence on both ends of the floor.
The Mystics also received key contributions from the bench. Rookies Cotie McMahon and Angela Dugalić combined for 14 points and 12 rebounds, helping Washington stay within striking distance throughout the contest.
The performance reflected a team continuing to find its rhythm. The ball movement, defensive intensity, and fight down the stretch gave the home crowd plenty to rally behind and plenty to be excited about as the season continues.
