The Washington Mystics earned their first win of the season in the inaugural
Mystics-Tempo matchup with a 68-65 road victory on May 8.

Sonia Citron led the Mystics with 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. She added to her performance with two steals and two blocks. Kiki Iriafen opened her 2026 campaign with a 12 point-16 rebound showing, the 17th double-double of her career and a career-best rebounding mark. Shakira Austin marked her return with 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting, 11 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks, which marked the 15th double-double of her career.

The Washington Mystics totaled 44 rebounds on May 8, tied for the most boards (July 26, 2025 vs. Seattle) in Head Coach Sydney Johnson’s tenure (2025-now). This is also eighth time they have reached the 40 boards mark in that span, tied for the fourth-most such games in the WNBA in that time period.
