The Washington Mystics fell to the the Minnesota Lynx, 92-75, on Thursday night.
Rookie guard Lucy Olsen led the way with a career-best 19 points on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting night, adding three assists in the effort.
Olsen’s performance put her in elite company, she became just the fourth rookie this season to post multiple games with shooting splits of 50% from the field, 40% from three, and 90% from the line, joining Sonia Citron, Monique Akoa-Makani, and Paige Bueckers. She also became one of four Mystics rookies, alongside Bueckers, Kiki Iriafen, and Carla Leite, to shoot 70% or better on 10+ attempts in a game.
Off the bench, Aaliyah Edwards poured in 15 points and grabbed six rebounds in just 18 minutes of action. It marked her second double-digit scoring outing of the season and the ninth game of her career with at least 10 points and five rebounds.
Shakira Austin continued her steady run of form, finishing with 10 points and five boards. The third-year forward has now scored in double figures in six straight contests and has recorded 10+ points and 5+ rebounds in six games this season. She also hit 80% from the line (4-5), her fifth game this season at that mark or better.
Sonia Citron added seven points and four rebounds, extending her streak to seven consecutive games with at least one made three-pointer. That ties her with Phoenix’s Kathryn Westbeld for the longest such streak by a rookie this season and places her in the top five all-time in Mystics franchise history for consecutive games with a made three.
Jade Melbourne chipped in six points and four assists in her fourth start of the season, continuing her solid playmaking with her fourth game in five outings with 3+ assists.
Up next, the Mystics return home to face the Chicago Sky at EagleBank Arena on Tuesday morning. Tip-off is set for 11:30 AM ET.
