Washington powered past Indiana behind career nights from Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen, plus another all-around performance from Shakira Austin in Friday’s matchup with the Fever. Citron poured in a career-high 30 points on 10-of-14 shooting while adding six rebounds and four assists. At just 22 years old, she became the youngest player in franchise history to record a 30-point game. She also stayed locked in at the line, going 9-of-10 from the stripe for her second straight game shooting .900 or better on 10+ free throw attempts.

Iriafen continued her dominant start to the season with 25 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, securing her third straight double-double to tip off the year. She is now the only player in Mystics history to open a season with three consecutive double-doubles and the only player in WNBA history to do it before turning 23.

Austin brought the energy on both ends with 19 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and three blocks. Her second block of the night moved her into ninth place on the Mystics’ all-time blocks list, passing Chasity Melvin.

Rookie Cotie McMahon made the most of her WNBA debut, finishing with 13 points and five rebounds. She became just the second player in franchise history to post 10+ points and 5+ rebounds in their debut game.

As a team, the Mystics were relentless from the jump. Washington shot 55.9% from the field and dominated the paint with a franchise-record 58 points inside. The Mystics also grabbed 44 rebounds, marking their third straight game with 40+ boards to open the season.
