SHATORI WALKER-KIMBROUGH GRANTS D.C. FAMILY BACK-TO-SCHOOL SHOPPING SPREE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Monday, July 26, Washington Mystics guard Shatori Walker-Kimbrough teamed up with Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, Delivering Good and Martha’s Table “Get Ready 4 School Giveaway,” to provide Ra’Chelle Dennis and her three-year old son, Noah, and his classmate Rico, a back-to-school spree at Washington, D.C. Metro Area’s upscale Tanger Outlets National Harbor. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dennis, a hairstylist, and her family faced fiscal hardships and were challenged to find normality in their day-to-day routines.
“I was happy to be here, happy for the opportunity. It was great today, a great experience,” said Walker-Kimbrough. “The boys were great. I’m happy to be back and happy to give back to the community in any way possible.”
To celebrate the return of in-person learning for students, Walker-Kimbrough’s $500 back-to-school shopping spree, courtesy of Tanger Outlets National Harbor, was one part of the “Get Ready 4 School Giveaway.” This safe, socially distanced back-to-school event aims to provide 5,000 D.C. families with all-new, all-free back-to-school clothing, supplies and health and wellness services.
On Saturday, July 31, 2021, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., families can come to the Pavilion at Gateway DC, 2700 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE, and pick up school supplies, snacks and clothing for the whole family – and be surrounded by family-friendly fun. This event is being organized by Martha’s Table, Delivering Good and Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation.
While there will be on-site registration, families are strongly encouraged to pre-register to avoid extended wait times. Interested families can SIGN UP HERE.
