Mystics Injury Update

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Washington Mystics Head Coach Mike Thibault announced that rookie Kiara Leslie underwent arthroscopic right knee surgery to repair her meniscus. The surgery was performed by team physician Dr. Lisa Yadao. Leslie is expected to make a full recovery in approximately three to four months.

Leslie was selected in the first round (10th overall) of the 2019 WNBA Draft. She played in every game during her two years at NC State and helped lead the Wolfpack to consecutive Sweet Sixteen appearances.

Prior to attending NC State, Leslie attended the University of Maryland where she earned consecutive Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2016 and 2017. Throughout her collegiate career, Leslie has scored over 1,000 career points.

Washington’s home opener at Entertainment and Sports Arena in Congress Heights will take place on Saturday, June 1 with a rematch of the WNBA Semifinals against the Atlanta Dream at 7:00 p.m. The team is coming off the most successful season in franchise history with a 22-12 regular season record and their first trip to the WNBA Finals.
