MYSTICS INJURY UPDATE

Washington, D.C. – Washington Mystics General Manager and Head Coach Mike Thibault announced today that forward Alysha Clark will be out for the 2021 WNBA season due to a Lisfranc injury of her right footClark suffered the injury while playing in Lyon, France. She will have surgery in the coming weeks and is expected to rehab with the team Updates on her condition will be given, as necessary.  

“There aren’t any simple words to express how badly we feel for Alysha, said Thibault. “She was very excited to get started with us this season and now will have to wait a year. Obviously, she was a big piece of our off season planning and will be sorely missed. Throughout her rehab, Alysha will remain an integral part of our leadership group and her mentoring of our younger players will be crucial as we move ahead. We look forward to her coming back healthy and being a factor in our success for several years to come.” 

A nine-year WNBA veteran, Clark signed with Washington as a free agent on February 1, 2021. She spent her career with the Seattle Storm, helping them win two WNBA Championships (2018, 2020). This past season, Clark earned her second All-Defensive honors when she was unanimously voted to the WNBA All-Defensive First Team.
