Mystics Acquire Queen Egbo

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington Mystics announced today that they have acquired center Queen Egbo (egg-BOH) from the Indiana Fever in exchange for center Amanda Zahui B.

“This trade was an opportunity to acquire a young post talent that can complement our other post players,” said General Manager Mike Thibault. “In light of our injury situation, this trade becomes even more important.”

Egbo, 6-4, has appeared in 16 games off the bench with the Fever this season, recording averages of 2.9 points and 4.1 rebounds.

Thibault continued, “Queen is an elite rebounder, one of our biggest weaknesses, and she has been a good shot blocker and defender in her time at Indiana.”

Drafted with the 10th overall pick by Indiana in the 2022 WNBA Draft, the second-year center holds career averages 5.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 49 games (31 starts). As a rookie, Egbo was named to the WNBA All-Rookie Team.

Zahui B.’s negotiating rights were originally acquired by the Mystics in a trade with Las Vegas on February 5, 2023, before the team signed her to a contract on February 7, 2023. In 12 games (one start) this season, she has averaged 2.0 points and 1.4 rebounds in 7.8 minutes per game.

“We thank Amanda for her short time here in DC. She has been a great professional and we wish her well in Indiana,” said Thibault.
