Game Recap: Mystics' Final Home Commissioner’s Cup Matchup
The Washington Mystics were defeated by the Atlanta Dream 89-56 on Sunday afternoon at CareFirst Arena.
Sonia Citron led the Mystics with 10 points, adding three rebounds and two steals. Citron has now scored in double figures in all 11 games to begin her WNBA career, marking the 10th-longest such streak in league history. She shot 6-of-7 (.857) from the free throw line, her second game this season shooting .850 or better from the stripe.
Brittney Sykes recorded nine points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal. Sykes has now grabbed 5+ rebounds in five games this season, including four of her last six. She has registered at least one steal in seven of her 10 appearances this season.
KiKi Iriafen finished with six points and eight rebounds. She has recorded 5+ rebounds in 10 consecutive games.
Shakira Austin contributed nine points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Austin has now posted multiple blocks in two games this season and has collected 5+ rebounds in three straight games.
Sug Sutton dished out a team-high four assists, tying her season high. She also had four assists in the team’s last game against Connecticut.
Washington outscored Atlanta in fastbreak points (12-9 and points in the paint (26-22). The Mystics shot 17-23 (.739) from the free throw line, marking their ninth game this season shooting over 70 percent from the line. The team committed just 14 personal fouls, tying a season low (last: May 30 vs. New York).
The Mystics will hit the road for the next two games starting with the Chicago Sky on Tuesday.
