The Washington Mystics picked up their first win of the 2025 WNBA Commissioner's Cup, defeating the Connecticut Sun 104-67 on Sunday at CareFirst Arena.

Brittney Sykes led the way with 28 points and six assists, marking her seventh game this season with at least 20 points and her third with 25 or more. Sykes went 14-15 from the free throw line, tying a career-high in makes and setting a new career high in attempts. Her 14 makes were also the third-most in a game in Mystics history.

Kiki Iriafen added 12 points and five rebounds, extending her double-digit scoring and rebounding streak to nine straight games. That streak ranks third all-time among Mystics rookies.

Aaliyah Edwards chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds, her first double-digit scoring game of the season. Sonia Citron scored 11 points and had two steals, shooting 50% from the field for the third straight game.

Sonia Citron scored 11 points and two steals, notching her second multi-steal game (last: 5/18/25 @ Connecticut). Citron shot 50.0% from the field on 10 attempts. She has now shot 50.0% or better in three straight games, and seven times overall.

Shakira Austin scored a season-high 14 points and grabbed five boards, while Sug Sutton added 10 points and two steals.

Washington’s 104 points marked a season high and their first 100-point game since September 2023. It also ranks as the sixth-highest scoring game in regulation in franchise history. The 37-point win tied for the third-largest margin of victory in team history and was the team’s largest since 2019.

The Mystics shot a season-best 57.1% from the field, assisted on 24 made baskets, and scored 56 points in the paint. They also out-rebounded the Sun 42-22 and held Connecticut to just 67 points, a season-low for a Mystics opponent.

Washington started the game 8-8 from the field and shot 71.4% in the first quarter — the first time in franchise history they’ve scored 25+ points in a quarter while shooting 70% or better.

The Mystics will return to action next Sunday at CareFirst Arena, to host the Atlanta Dream.
