Game Recap: Mystics vs Fire













The Washington Mystics made history on Sunday, defeating the Portland Fire 124-123 in an unforgettable four-overtime thriller, the second four-overtime game in WNBA history and the highest-scoring game in franchise history.
In a game that had everything, the Mystics never stopped fighting. Washington set a new franchise record with 124 points, dished out a season-high 32 assists, grabbed 45 rebounds, and knocked down a season-best 10 three-pointers to earn one of the most memorable wins in team history.
Sonia Citron delivered a career performance with a game-high 32 points, six rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a block. She also set a career high with 13 made free throws, helping Washington come through in the biggest moments.
Michaela Onyenwere was electric, pouring in a career-high 30 points while connecting on a career-best six three-pointers. Kiki Iriafen added a career-high 27 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and two steals for her seventh double-double of the season, while Shakira Austin anchored the effort with a game-high 13 rebounds and six assists.
Together, Citron, Onyenwere, and Iriafen combined for 89 points, tying the second-highest scoring total by a trio of teammates in WNBA history. It also marked the first time in franchise history that two Mystics scored 30 or more points in the same game.
The Mystics also received a key defensive lift from Alicia Flórez, who came off the bench to record a career-high five steals, helping swing momentum throughout the marathon matchup.
It took four overtimes, 247 combined points, and contributions from every corner of the roster, but the Mystics walked out of Portland with a statement win.
