Mystics guard Brittney Sykes will represent the United States in the 2024 FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup December 12-15 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
After participating in USA Basketball's 3x3 training camp in Phoenix last month, Sykes will team up with three other players with WNBA experience in Abbey Hsu, Maddy Siegrist, and Azurá Stevens as Team USA tries to capture a second straight gold medal in the event. The USA women won gold in this event in 2023 and 2021, while the USA men won in 2022 and 2021.
This is the first 3x3 event Sykes has participated in, but not her first experience with USA Basketball. She was a key piece on the 5-on-5 gold medal team in the 2019 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup. Additionally, she participated in the 2012 U18 and 2013 U19 FIBA World Cup national team trials in Seattle, followed by Team USA trials in Columbia 2018.
The women's team is coached by Sydney Johnson, who has served USA Basketball in multiple capacities since 2020, including leading the 2023 USA 3x3 Men’s U23 World Cup Team to gold.
The American women tip off Pool A on Dec. 14 against Dominican Republic (3:30 p.m. ET) and Uruguay (6:35 p.m. ET). Following pool play, the top two teams from each of the four three-team pools advance to the quarterfinals on Dec. 15. For the full schedule, click here.
