Mystics Look to 3,000 Miles on the Road over Three Games

The Mystics are logging some serious frequent flyer miles over the next two weeks. With renovations currently underway at Capital One Arena, Washington is hitting the road; starting Thursday night when they take on the Wings in Dallas. The Stics will follow up their trip to Texas by heading to New York to face the Liberty and then continue up to Connecticut next week for a final rematch against the Sun.

Thursday, July 19 (8:00 p.m. ET, ESPN 2) at Dallas Wings

Set for their first matchup of the season, Washington will take on Dallas this Thursday in College Park Center. While we look to rebound from a tough loss against Atlanta, Dallas is coming off of a big victory against New York, routing them 104-87. We will need to cool down the Cambage, who had over half of the Wings’ points against the Liberty on Tuesday.

Saturday, July 21 (3:00 p.m., NBA TV, Monumental) at New York Liberty

Following the road trip to Texas, is the Mystics third and final pairing against the New York Liberty. This duo faced off twice in Washington with the Mystics taking both. New York has had a tough run this season, currently at 7-14, but the return of guard Brittany Boyd has provided a late-season influx of energy for the Liberty and some much-needed depth to their bench. With New York looking to avoid a regular-season sweep, this game is positioned to be a battle.

Tuesday, July 24 (7:00 p.m., ESPN 3, Monumental) at Connecticut Sun

For another game filled with some familiar faces, Washington travels to Connecticut to face the Sun for the fourth and final time this regular season. Currently, they have split the series with Connecticut taking one and Washington the other two. The Sun have rebounded recently from a slide in early July that had them taking three consecutive losses. Some would attribute the change in energy for the Sun to a trade that sent Alex Bentley to Atlanta in exchange for Layshia Clarendon on July 9. This will be the Mystics’ first time up against the Sun since the roster change.
