STORYLINES

Mystics Face Dream in Atlanta

The Mystics head to Atlanta on Sunday, June 13 for the first of three regular-season matchups between the teams this season. The two teams faced each other during preseason with the Mystics falling to the Dream 87-80. Since then, the Mystics have gone 4-5 and Dream 4-6 in regular season games.

After Thursday’s win against the Sparks, the Mystics are coming off a two-game win streak and look to carry that momentum into Sunday’s matchup. Tina Charles and Ariel Atkins had standout performances in that win and the season as a whole, but contributions from the entire team are giving the Mystics some depth. The Mystics bench continued 28 points in the team’s 89-71 victory over the Sparks, marking the third 20+ game for Washington’s bench this season.

Commissioner’s Cup Game

Sunday afternoon’s match between the Mystics and the Dream is a Commissioner’s Cup game. It is the Mystics’ fifth (1-3) and the Dream’s sixth (3-2) Commissioner’s Cup games of the season, and the first of two Commissioner’s Cup games between the two teams. The first annual tournament is in celebration of the WNBA’s 25th season and the winning team will receive $500,000 in prize money. See the league standings here.

The Mystics face Atlanta for the second matchup of the season on Thursday, June 17 at 7:00 PM at Entertainment & Sports Arena in DC. Click here to purchase tickets.
