The Mystics are taking an active role in driving awareness and support for the physical and mental health & wellness of our community. The Mystics Health & Wellness platform promotes resources around awareness, prevention and early detection of medical issues. MedStar Health, the official health provider of the Washington Mystics, continues to help keep the DMV community safe, healthy, and informed. Check out some of their resources below related to COVID-19 and general health and well-being.
Championing Healthcare Equity
The Washington Mystics continue to work to shine a light on the impact of health inequities experienced by women and communities of color. Advocating for a more equitable health experience contributes to a healthier society, and ensures that everyone enjoys optimal health and well-being. In April, the WNBA and WNBPA announced their support of Black Women’s Health Imperative – a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help protect and advance the health and wellness of Black women and girls. The league and the Player’s Association pledged a $25,000 donation to BWHI to combat economic inequities and unequal access to healthcare.

DC Public Library Mental Health Reads
This summer, the Mystics are teaming up with the DC Public Library to recommend great reads that you can check out with your library card! Each month the library will be posting Read Feed entries that spotlight titles around a theme. May’s theme is Health and Wellness. In honor of Mental Health Awareness month they have selected some adult nonfiction titles that can help you adjust your habits, start a meditation practice, improve your self-talk and much more.
