Wednesday, February 1st is National Girls & Women in Sports Day. For the 31st anniversary, NGWSD will focus on the theme Expanding Opportunity. Recognized annually across all 50 states, this day aims to honor the extraordinary achievements of those who have helped to effect change and create opportunities for women and girls in sports. NGWSD was created to empower women and girls, and to help them push past their limits both in sports and in life.
This year the Washington Mystics will be partnering with DCSAA on Saturday, February 11th to participate in the first annual DC National Girls and Women in Sports Day Expo. We want to continue to encourage and strengthen awareness in the community that that there is still room to expand opportunity for high school girls to participate in athletics.
Join us this Saturday at Deanwood Recreation Center from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm and learn more about the positive impact of sports in lives of girls and women in our community!
