Little Margin for Error
After Friday’s loss to the Storm, the Mystics will have their work cut out for them to earn a spot in the postseason. They currently sit as the ninth seed in the league, one game behind the Mercury and one and a half games behind the Storm. However, they don’t own the tie-breaker with either Phoenix or Seattle, which means they will likely need to win their final four games to have a shot at being a playoff team.
Washington has had their way with Indiana this year, with two double-digit wins, including a 23-point victory in Indianapolis two weeks ago.
Fever Back to .500
Indiana enters Sunday’s game on a two-game win streak and are back at .500 at 15-15. They begin the day as the fifth seed, owning the tie-breaker over the Sky, who are also 15-15.
Catchings Final Game in DC
Today, 10x all-star Tamika Catchings will play her final game in Washington D.C. One of the greatest players in WNBA history, Catchings will retire at the end of the season. Even at age 37, she’s still the team’s leading scorer this season (12.8 ppg) and the Mystics will need to gameplan for her.
