WASHINGTON, D.C. Washington Mystics General Manager and Head Coach Trudi Lacey announced today that the team has signed free agent center Michelle Snow. A 10-year veteran, Snow has averaged 9.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 334 career games with the Houston Comets, Atlanta Dream, San Antonio Silver Stars and most recently, the Chicago Sky.
We are excited to have Michelle join the Mystics, stated Lacey. She will add depth, size and experience to our post game. Her presence in the post will definitely help us as we make a push to return to the playoffs in 2012.
Last season with the Chicago Sky, Snow averaged 5.9 points and 6.3 rebounds and ranked fifth in the league with 1.3 blocks per game. She is currently eighth among the WNBAs all-time leaders in blocks (350).
During her seven years with the Comets, Snow help lead Houston to four playoff appearances (2002, 2003, 2005, 2006). In 2003, after averaging 9.9 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game, she was named the WNBAs Most Improved Player. In addition, she made consecutive All-Star appearances in 2005 and 2006. Snow helped the Dream secure the first playoff berth in franchise history during her time in Atlanta and was a part of the Silver Stars playoff squad in 2010. Overall, she holds averages of 8.8 points, 6.2 and 1.0 blocks in 17 playoff games.
Snow played for legendary coach Pat Summitt at the University of Tennessee and during her sophomore year, she was named to the All-SEC second team.
