Todays 74-63 win over the Connecticut Sun (6-15) puts Washington at 11-13 on the season where they remain in fourth place in the East.

This was the second of four matchups between these two teams. The Mystics grabbed the first game 66-62 on June 7th in Connecticut. With Washington up 2-0 in the series, the next game is in Connecticut on September 6th. The series will conclude in Washington on September 13th.

It was Washingtons first game since their big upset of the Minnesota Lynx in Minnesota on Thursday. The 79-75 win was the Mystics biggest of the season, but was also their second win of the season over the WNBA leading Lynx.

Washingtons coach Mike Thibault, who is the winningest coach in WNBA history, was the head coach of the Sun for 10 years. This is the second time hes faced his former team and now has a 2-0 record against them.

The Mystics offense started the game hot going 8-for-14 from the field to start the game, while also dishing out six assists. They ended with 17 assists on the game.

It was buzzer beater city for the rookies in Washington this afternoon. Nadirah McKenith hit a 38-foot buzzer beater at the end of the first quarter to put the Mystics up 23-7. Then guard Tayler Hill hit a three at the buzzer at the end of the first half to put Washington up 38-23 at halftime.

The biggest lead of the game for the Mystics was 21.

In the last three games forward Crystal Langhorne has averaged 19 points per game on 66% shooting. She had another dominant offensive performance tonight scoring 18 and grabbing nine boards.

After dropping 24 points against Minnesota, Washingtons All-Star point guard Ivory Latta started the game with a three-pointer on the Mystics first possession, but after that cooled off before coming up big at the end of the game. Latta hit a three pointer with 44 seconds left in the game solidifying Washingtons victory. She ended the game with 14 points, five assists, and five rebounds.

Forward Monique Currie also had a big night with 12 points and seven rebounds. Center Michelle Snow also had nine points and 10 boards.

Next up for Washington is a two-game road trip. First on Friday the 16th the Mystics will face the New York Liberty before traveling to Atlanta to face the Dream on Sunday August 18th.
